DAccording to the World Health Organization (WHO) 2 000 000 000 people suffer from anemia in the world. In Mexico, beginning in 2002 Social Security began to administer iron from two months of age and premature infants who were born with low birth weight, and after four months of age to those whose weight was normal. That would combat this shortfall and avoid its consequences, which include: delay in mental and psychomotor development and, ultimately, damage to the heart, kidneys and other vital organs.

Dr Chong Jesus Ernesto Vera, coordinator of Medical Programs PREVENIMSS, I note that the figures tend to fall through prevention campaigns that have been undertaken to encourage mothers to bring their children to review every two months, from birth until the first year of age.
In these consultations, in addition to administering the supplement, the importance of breast milk and a proper diet that includes meat, fruit and vegetables (foods rich in iron) from six months old, were desparasitas to children and explained to mothers that is not true that overweight children do not suffer from anemia, as they have more fat than muscle, and it does not indicate that they are well nourished.
