In recent decades have seen an increasing prevalence of chronic noncommunicable diseases (diabetes, high blood pressure, heart attacks, stroke, cancer) in which the lifestyles associated with inadequate diet are major risk factors. Obesity doubles or triples the risk.
Today several studies show that it is possible to prevent these diseases, having good eating habits, doing physical exercise as many days as possible while maintaining an appropriate body weight.
It is important to know that any food itself contains all the nutrients the body needs, so you need a varied diet, ie, in the three main meals a day for food all the food groups and give variety each of these, in this way to ensure a complete nutrition and prevent disease.

Food groups should not be missing in each of the three main meals a day are:
• Legumes and food of animal origin.
• Vegetables and fruits.
• Grains.
Fats, sugars and salt are not part of groups, as they should be eaten in small quantities, because their abuse harms health.
Each food group is different in its nutritional composition, and therefore are not interchangeable with each other, but within the group and follows their daily consumption.
The healthy foods are characterized as being low in fat, sugar, salt, cholesterol and rich in vitamins, minerals and fiber and are low in calories. At each meal should include:
• Abundant vegetables.
• A fresh fruit in season.
• Smaller amounts of other foods low in animal fat (meat, cheese, egg) or a portion legumes (beans, broad beans, lentils, soy, beans).
• Sufficient quantity of grain cereal (rice, oats, corn, wheat).
• A glass of skim milk or yogurt (twice daily).
• Between six and eight glasses of water or natural fruit sugar free.
• Little sugar and salt.
• Also, cook with small amount of vegetable oil.
• Avoid the abuse of fast food (hamburgers, pizza, hot dogs, fritangas, giant cakes) and junk food (fried flour or corn cakes, candy, soft drinks) for their high-fat, cholesterol, sugars, salt, preservatives and colorings.
It is therefore recommended to incorporate a portion of lentils (protein, iron, zinc, fiber) and a pineapple (potassium, fiber, iodine, vitamins C and A) in any of the meals of the day which will help to integrate properly fed and enjoy the benefits of these foods.
